What's the difference?

Light Mix

Light Mix

A beautiful blend of soft, natural colors!

Our Light Mix regals come from a light-mix breeding group and may develop a variety of colors and patterns, including:

  • Warm cream and beige
  • Soft peach and orange
  • Caramel and tan
  • Silvery gray
  • Brown and mixed-color patterns

Every baby is unique, and siblings from the same clutch may develop noticeably different appearances.

The term Light Mix describes a breeding group, not a guaranteed adult color. Some babies may become very light, while others develop deeper or warmer tones.

That’s part of the fun of watching them grow!

White Line

White Line

Beautiful babies from a lineage associated with lighter coloration!

White Line refers to a breeding lineage selected or recognized for its tendency to produce pale, white, cream, or silver coloration.

However, it’s important to understand that being White Line does not mean a jumping spider will necessarily be white.

White Line babies may develop a variety of colors, including:

  • White and cream
  • Pale silver
  • Light gray
  • Gray-and-white combinations
  • Darker coloration with contrasting patterns

Some individuals may develop extensive white coloration, while others may not.

Our current White Line babies come from Sushi, our beautiful silver-gray and white regal jumping spider.

Sushi was acquired as a White Line female and will likely produce many White Lines. As with all jumping spiders, her babies adult coloration will become clearer as they mature.

High White

High White

A beautiful description of an individual’s appearance!

High White is a term breeders commonly use to describe regal jumping spiders with an especially large amount of white or very pale coloration.

High White spiders may have predominantly white or pale cream coloring across much of their bodies, sometimes combined with silver, gray, or darker markings.

Is High White the same as White Line?

Not exactly!

White Line describes breeding ancestry. High White describes appearance.

A spider from a White Line may eventually develop a High White appearance. However, not every White Line baby will become High White, and a spider’s appearance alone does not establish its breeding lineage.

Because High White is a descriptive term rather than a universally standardized genetic classification, we evaluate each spider individually as it develops.

We do not guarantee High White coloration in young spiderlings.

Hi, we’re Kristen + Kelly
Meet the breeders

Hi, we’re Kristen + Kelly

Welcome to our little corner of the jumping spider world!

Spood Society was born from our shared love for these tiny, curious creatures and our passion for creating a world just as special as they are.

From raising and breeding our own jumping spiders to designing whimsical 3D-printed habitats and accessories, everything we do comes from a genuine love for these amazing little creatures. We love watching their individual personalities develop, caring for our growing spood families, and helping others experience the joy of welcoming a spood into their lives.

We also believe a jumping spider's home should be more than just an enclosure. Every jumping spider should have a cozy little world filled with personality, fun places to explore, and plenty of spots to hide and climb. That's why we thoughtfully design our own unique accessories, combining functionality with the cute, whimsical style we love.

More than anything, Spood Society is about sharing that passion with a community of people who adore them just as much as we do. Thank you for supporting our dream and giving our tiny friends such wonderful homes!

Spood questions

What do slings eat?

Our slings have big appetites for tiny bugs! Baby jumping spiders eat flightless fruit flies, started with smaller melanogaster flies and moving to larger hydei flies as they grow.

As your spood gets bigger, they’ll graduate to larger feeders like appropriately sized crickets or mealworms.

We recommend offering food every 2-3 days for young slings, adjusting based on their size and appetite. Our care guide will help you know when and what to feed.

How big will my spood get?

They may start out teeny tiny, but regal jumping spiders grow into adorable little companions.

Adult females typically reach about 1/2-7/8 inch in body length, while males are generally a little smaller, Their legs make them appear even bigger.

Every jumping spider grows at its own pace, and their final size can vary,

How long do they live?

Regal jumping spiders typically live around 1-2 years, although some females can live 2-3 years with proper care. Males generally have shorter lifespans than females.

Every spood is different, and factors like genetics, environment, and overall care can influence their lifespan.

Is my sling a boy or a girl?

Our young slings are sold as unsexed unless otherwise stated. At a young age, its difficult to reliably determine whether they’re male or female.

As your spood grows and molts, their features become more distinct, making it easier to identify their sex.

It’s all part of the surprise of watching your tiny friend grow up!

What setup do I need before it arrives?

Young slings need a small, secure, well-ventilated enclosure with plenty of climbing opportunities and places to rest near the top.

Will My Jumping Spider Change Colors?

Yes, and sometimes the changes can be surprising!

Jumping spiders grow through a process called molting. During a molt, they shed their old exoskeleton to make room for their growing bodies.

Each stage of growth is called an instar.

As regal jumping spiders grow and molt, their colors and markings may change. For example:

  • A young spider that appears gray may develop lighter cream or silver coloration.
  • A pale juvenile may become darker as it matures.
  • A spider with subtle markings may develop more noticeable patterns.
  • Some babies may change dramatically between molts!
Can you predict what color a baby will become?

Not with certainty.

A spider’s breeding lineage and its parents’ appearances may provide clues, but they cannot guarantee an individual baby’s adult coloration.

Even siblings from the same clutch may grow up looking very different.

The only way to know a regal jumping spider’s final adult coloration is to observe how it develops through maturity.

Do males and females look different?

Adult male regal jumping spiders are typically black with contrasting white markings.

Females display a much wider variety of colors, including orange, tan, brown, cream, gray, and white.

As a result, even babies from a White Line may look quite different depending on their sex and individual development.
